Place of extraterrestrial beauty: Red Beach in China, resembling a crimson carpet
In the Chinese province of Liaoning, there is a small beach that turns blood-red every autumn. Located next to the Liao River, hundreds of tourists come annually to witness this magical phenomenon.
The reason for the unusual color is the algae that grow in the reservoir. Throughout the summer, they are of the usual green shades, but with the onset of autumn cold, they quickly start to die, turning red. In the Liao River delta, there are so many of them that the reservoir quickly turns into a carpet of bright crimson color, inviting barefoot walks. However, this is prohibited: Red Beach is considered a natural reserve, with only a small part open to tourists. Nevertheless, even a small area is enough to capture these unearthly photographs.
In reality, all these algae are just a common weed. However, it is more commonly found in seas, as it prefers salty water. And it's not the only type of plant with red shades; there are many in the World Ocean. Perhaps the most famous of them are found in the Red Sea, which is where they got their name.
