The whitest sand on the beach

The whitest sand on the beach

What comes to mind when you hear the word "beach"? Of course, warm sea, pleasant sun, long-awaited rest, and yellow sand. Why yellow, you may ask? Well, because statistically, most beaches in the world have yellow sand. However, there are places of astonishing beauty on our planet where the sand is pure white, just like snow. And there are quite a few of them. At TravelAsk, we found the very best of them and want to show you!

Australia's "Snowy" Beach

Yes, that's right, snowy, don't be surprised by that epithet!

The beach with the whitest sand in the world is not in popular destinations like the Dominican Republic or the Maldives, no. This beach is less known, located in Australia, and is called Hyams Beach. The sand here is so white that it resembles snow, or alternatively, large fields of salt. Don't believe it? See it for yourself!

Hyams Beach has even been listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the beach with the whitest sand. It is dazzling, and those who visit here wear sunglasses not only because of the bright sun, but also due to the blinding whiteness of the sand. Recommendations for visiting the beach include making sure to bring dark sunglasses.

Some vacationers even claim that when looking at the beach from a distance, it seems as if someone has accidentally spilled whipped cream. And walking in this sand, your feet sink in as if in flour.

Color is not the only advantage

But Hyams Beach is not only famous for the color of its sand. Among other things, the sand here is very fine-grained. Such fine sand is hardly found elsewhere, especially in such a heavenly setting: warmth, sea, and sun all year round.

Furthermore, the sand here is very clean. According to CNN, the cleanliness level of this beach reaches 99%. Therefore, it's not surprising that the sand from the beach is used in the production of glass, telescope lenses, and for silver polishing. Scientists claim that the sand is carried onto the shore by the sea currents.

And buying property not far from this shore is a dream for many.

Certainly, this is a favorite spot for newlyweds: photo sessions, outdoor wedding ceremonies are very common here, and the photos turn out magical even at dusk. And yes, the number of brides per square meter here is higher than on other beaches in the world. But isn't this the perfect place to emphasize the solemnity of the moment, isn't it?

How to Find This Wonderful Beach

Hyams Beach is located in Jervis Bay, 180 kilometers south of Sydney and 145 kilometers from Canberra, the capital of Australia. It can be reached from these cities in about two hours.

Right next to the beach is the village of the same name, Hyams Beach, with a population of approximately 300 people. At its borders lie Jervis Bay National Park and Booderee National Park. They are small (each covering an area of about 60 square kilometers), but they include other beaches in Australia as well as beautiful cliffs. These parks are home to kangaroos, cute wombats, little penguins (they are truly tiny, not exceeding 40 centimeters!), and colorful birds.

Other Beaches with White Sands

But besides Hyams Beach, there are other wonderful places on the planet with white sand, although not as white and fine, but perhaps much easier to reach. Apart from the aforementioned Maldives and the Dominican Republic, there are similar beaches in Tanzania on the island of Zanzibar and on the island of Aruba, located in the Caribbean Sea.
