Fled from this hotel the next day! Thank God we booked through booking ourselves! Cockroaches run right on the pillows and crawl out of all the cracks in the bathroom, everything is shabby, worn out! I used to stay at this hotel several times before.. it was very decent, especially after the renovation, the food was good.. now it's awful! Terrible food! Ants.. in general, I do not recommend it!

avatar

Well, now I'm scared to go ((( My daughter and I are scared of animals (cockroaches, spiders, lizards, ants). And we have booked a chalet where, according to the description, there are even more creepy crawlies 😣 We've ordered sprays for mosquitoes, maybe we should take something else for cockroaches with us?

avatar

Cockroaches can be anywhere. If you see them, please inform the reception, they will take care of it. And you won't just be sitting in the room, you'll be sunbathing) everything will be fine) My friends stayed there in April - they liked everything, they didn't encounter any cockroaches))

Here in the bungalow we had cockroaches and ants running around. If you booked the hotel yourself, you can switch from the bungalow to the main building at any time. They offered me all kinds of rooms... afraid we might leave... but the rooms are already in a bad condition, especially those with carpets... If you keep refusing, they may offer a room after renovation with laminate flooring... but it's still a nightmare... The hotel has aged a lot and worn out... I have never seen any creatures there before!

Mr. Joy - the reception chief exchanges money. Very friendly staff... But the cleaning is terrible... I lived in a dormitory when I was a student, so it's fine for me... My husband turned a blind eye... Smoking is allowed on the balcony, in the restaurant it's terribly cold, the air conditioners cool non-stop... Well, this is so they don't linger over their meal. The food is decent... Desserts are awful. But drinks are plentiful all 3 times. The cream is tasty.

Rooms vary in this hotel, some are very worn out, while others are at least tidy. Breakfast is minimal. After the pandemic, the complimentary metro transfer was removed. Therefore, the point of staying here for the convenience of getting to the metro disappeared, unfortunately. Also, people started reserving loungers at 7 am, which wasn't seen before. Maybe things have improved now. The beach itself is nice and the main attraction is being right by the waterfront. Another plus is that there are balconies where you can smoke regular cigarettes 😂 ashtrays are provided and you can also hang your laundry. If your room faces the road, be prepared for the continuous noise of trucks 24/7, as it is one of the roads where heavy trucks pass endlessly, especially at night. For light sleepers, it may be better to opt for a room with a view of the bay. However, it might make more sense to check prices at the hotel opposite, Lavender, if it is cheaper and head to the free beach, where you can rent a lounger for the whole day if desired. To get to the metro more budget-friendly from the hotel, take the free transfer to Sahara Center from the Carlton hotel. Once inside the shopping center, head to the right and you'll find an exit towards the other side of the center. Once outside, you'll see a chain-link fence. This is like the border with Dubai. Go beyond the fence, where you can take a taxi to Deira Metro Station. This saves money immediately on taxi fare for crossing the border. Just be careful not to get stuck in traffic during rush hour if you plan to return from Deira by taxi, or you might end up paying extra for the congestion. Just beyond the border from Sahara (beyond this fence), there is a "Day to Day" store.

Yesterday, on the 20th of February, we arrived at the hotel. I want to leave a review right away. This is not our first time in the UAE, we usually vacation in Sharjah, so we decided to stick to our routine. This time we chose the Carlton hotel. Upon arrival, we were placed in the main building with a partial sea view, even though we had booked a chalet. We went to the reception to sort it out, and they said there were no chalets available, come back tomorrow morning. Fine, we spent the night there. THE ROOM IN THE MAIN BUILDING is spacious, with a toilet, a bathroom, a bidet, a kettle, a hairdryer, a fridge, and an iron without a board for some reason. They bring 1.5 liters of water to the room daily. The tea and coffee making amenities are a bit scarce. As for toiletries, they provide two bars of soap, two shower gels, two shampoo-conditioners, shower caps, cotton pads, and Q-tips. I think I've listed everything. The TV, while flat-screen, is a bit old, and the smart functions were confusing - I couldn't even get to YouTube in Russian. But there are a few Russian channels available. Our room supposedly had a sea view, but there was no balcony, the window opened onto the roof. Since it was February, it was very windy. The window was not sealed at all, and it was drafty and howling all night long. Like Pushkin's poem: "Sometimes roaring like a beast, sometimes wailing like a child." The cosmetic repairs seem to have been done, but it's time for an update. All in all, if you don't spend the whole day in the room, it's fine for washing up and spending the night. We didn't notice any insects. In the morning, we had a meeting with a guide, and she asked to move us to a chalet. The room was changed quite quickly. THE CHALET. The room is smaller in size compared to the main building and slightly fresher. The amenities are no different, but this time there was an ironing board. FOOD. We usually only have breakfast and either get food delivered or eat at restaurants the rest of the time. We stuck to this routine as well. When we came for breakfast, we were shocked. I have never seen such a meager breakfast even in a 3-star hotel, let alone a 4-star. There are vegetables, two to three types of cheese, sliced soy sausage, eggs, and side dishes. However, I couldn't find any meat, not even sausages. There is only one type of tea - black, brewed in a large pot with tea bags. And only one type of coffee - probably instant. I didn't dare to taste it. BEACH. The hotel has its own beach with enough sunbeds, and lifeguards are on duty. However, it's windy right now, with a red flag, so swimming is not allowed. The pool is being heated, and the temperature is supposed to be 29 degrees, but it feels lower. Towels are only changed once a day. The hotel mostly caters to Russian-speaking guests, and many employees can communicate in Russian, although not perfectly. We could understand each other. That's all for now, I will update the review at the end of our vacation if there's anything more to add.

We are currently staying at a hotel and would like to leave a review for future guests. Our group consists of 2 adults and a 6-year-old child. We have been to the UAE many times, so we were looking for a beach vacation. The most important aspect for us was a heated pool, which we expected to be available in cold weather. However, the pool was not heated at all. When there was strong wind, they simply turned off the heating, and upon arrival, the pool was freezing. With the help of kind people, we managed to request the heating to be turned on, and the staff promptly did so. However, if you are not accustomed to a temperature of around 21 degrees Celsius in the water, this may not be the right option for you. The pool simply doesn't have enough time to heat up during the daylight hours when there is cold wind. During calm weather, it did reach around 25-26 degrees Celsius, but no higher. The advertised children's playground is a different story. It is difficult to even comment on it. There are rusty pipes, broken plastic, and swings that should have been renewed about 10 years ago. The breakfast is standard and modest for the UAE, but acceptable. However, it was disappointing that there was no water provided during breakfast. You have to bring your own. The rooms are also worn out, but it doesn't bother us much. Personally, I believe that the hotel is not worth the advertised price. I forgot to mention that my husband and I personally collected several shards of glass bottles from the beach. It's understandable that strong waves bring such debris, but stepping on it is not pleasant for anyone. We have never seen the beach being cleaned of plastic, cigarette butts, etc., even on the public, free beach where I constantly saw cleaners. The ferry from Sharjah to Dubai was scheduled to start operating in August 2023, but it wasn't available. However, its availability is not as great as it sounds. We are currently in this hotel and luckily we didn't buy tickets online. The ferry hasn't been operating for the past 3 days due to weather conditions, which is just the wind on the sea and a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius, which is quite predictable for this month. So my advice is to check the weather and if you are close, buy tickets on-site. To sum up, there are better options in Ajman and Sharjah for the same price. We stayed at the neighboring Lou Lou hotel, which is older but offers a higher level of comfort. And I would like to add that transfers to Sahara Mall and City Centre Sharjah are available, but now the transfer to Dubai is chargeable, costing 80 per person and requiring prior booking. The price is excessive!

The hotel is clearly tired. We initially stayed in the main building with a sea view. The room had a musty smell. The air conditioner was working like an airplane. The bathroom was terrifying, in terrible condition. Everything was dirty due to age. Then renovation started nearby, and we were relocated to a chalet upon our request. The chalet was better, not a musty room, and the bathroom looked better. But in the evening, large ants started crawling into the room. The floor was covered in crushed ants. The breakfast was meager, but you could still find something to eat. The sea and the beach are very good, 5+ rating. The sun loungers are all occupied by 7 in the morning, and some even occupy them overnight. They become available by 11 am, and you can find a free sun lounger then. 90% of the guests at the hotel are Russian tourists.

The hotel is not bad. Plus, it's also located on the first coastline. It all depends on the price. We were there in February - 130 for two people for 10 nights, which was okay. Now, it's 200 for a week. We decided to book a city hotel for 130 with breakfast and dinner. The difference will be more than enough for a taxi to Carona Beach!

avatar

I will share my impressions about the hotel. The hotel is a bit run-down, maybe outdated... 🤷‍♀️ The WiFi is good. The food is average. There is a choice of 3-4 hot dishes, 1 soup, and 3-4 salads. The desserts are the same every day. Tea and coffee are available. In the morning, there are two juice options. There is no juice for lunch and dinner... It's unclear why there are no teaspoons... The most wonderful thing is the sea! It is located right on the beach, with enough sunbeds, although many of them are broken. The sand is clean, and the sea is clear, transparent, and very warm!!!

People complain that there are many mosquitoes now. Are there many of them here? Mostly in the main building or in the chalet?
